Following the full resumption of travel, global traders flocked to take part in the city’s trade activities. Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair, together with the concurrent Salon de TE, will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center (HKCEC) from 5-9 September 2023. The fairs will return in EXHIBITION+ hybrid model, complemented by the "Click2Match", an online smart business matching platform that will operate on 29 August – 16 September, providing a convenient and efficient platform for traders to connect. Other exhibiting categories consist of “Complete Watches”, “Clocks”, “Machinery & Equipment”, “OEM Smart Watches”, “Packaging & Display”, “Parts, Components & Accessories” and “Trade Services”. Salon de TE Salon de TE collects renowned watch brands and designer collections in five themed zones. World Brand Piazza, the major highlight will display limited editions and rare timepieces of numerous international prestigious brands. Chic & Trendy features trendsetters and fashion-driven watch brands, including Arbutus (USA), Obaku (Denmark), Charles Jourdan (France), JULIUS (Korea), Infantry (Japan), and ROMAGO (Switzerland). The Swiss brand ROMAGO launches the new limited edition ROULETTE MASTER II SKELETON AUTOMATIC which has a silver plated stainless steel case and the strap colour matches with the roulette design of the dial. Skeleton movement is Swiss made with the house’s aesthetics which is also reflected on the star-shaped screws. The transparent case back features an open-worked rotor with shielding design. Water resistance is up to 50m. Craft Treasure showcases mechanical watches and flawless craftsmanship of jewellery-laden watches from brands include CIGA design (Mainland China), Memorigin (Hong Kong), SAGA (USA) and Peacock Watch (Mainland China), etc. Since its establishment in 1957, Peacock Watch, a mainland Chinese brand, has always pursue exquisite design and extraordinary craftsmanship, and has led the development and innovation of high-end watches in mainland China. With its self-developed dual tourbillon movement of which Peacock owns the intellectual property rights, Peacock is the only brand in mainland China that is capable of producing this watch. One of the Peacock’s watches with a central tourbillon is inspired by the universe, representing humanity’s passion for exploring the universe and the unknown, and embodies the concept of time transition and space with geometric figures. Renaissance Moment showcases classic and elegant watch brands originated in Europe, such as Coinwatch (Switzerland), NOVE (Switzerland), Pierre Lannier (France) and Gagà MILANO (Italy). Among them, the Swiss Independent Watchmaking Pavilion is expected to bring 8 outstanding Swiss-made watch labels. Wearable Tech brings a series of smart watches with the latest technology, including Microwear (Mainland China), DTNO.1 (Mainland China), DO (Mainland China), King-Wear (Mainland China) ) and MYZI (Mainland China), etc. This year, the fairs highlight "Guo Chao" theme and a number of heavy weight mainland Chinese watchmakers are invited to showcase a variety of watches designed with exquisite craftsmanship and Chinese culture. Among them, Ma Xushu, an independent watchmaker known as a master watchmaker in mainland China and the member of the Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants (AHCI). The dial of his representative work "Starry Night" watch uses a pointer with a telescopic structure to indicate the hour and minute simultaneously. The back of the watch corresponds to the actual starry sky map of Beijing, engraved with four words: Starry Sky of Beijing. The cycle of a sidereal day is not an integer of 24 hours, but 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4 seconds. In order to realize the accurate operation of the astrological chart, Master Ma went to the Beijing Planetarium alone repeatedly to study and research with great concentration, and dedication. The current design ensures that the cumulative error of the astrology will only differ by 1 day after 60 years of operation. “Salon de TE” is open to public visitors aged 12 years or above for free on the last two day (September 8-9). Captivating networking events, watch parades and lucky draw sessions will be staged. Selected items are also available for sale. Events & Activities An array of watch parades, seminars, buyer forums and networking events will be held during the fair period to present the latest market insights and inspiration to industry players and facilitate business interaction. On 5 September, representatives of major watch associations around the world will gather at the Hong Kong International Watch Forum to discuss the global trade performance and forecast the market trend for the coming year, while at the Asian Watch Conference on 6 September, the international researcher Euromonitor will reveal the latest development of various markets and industry representatives will share the trend of wristwatch design. Watch & Clock Design Competition With the aspiration of stimulating creative exchange in local watch and clock design as well as fostering creativity, the HKTDC, Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Associations Ltd. and The Federation of Hong Kong Watch Trades & Industries Ltd. co-organise the 40th Hong Kong Watch & Clock Design Competition again this year. Under the theme of “Game Code” for the student group and “The Beauty of Perspective” for the open group, winners will be announced at the fair, and winning pieces will be on display during the fair at Hall 1 Concourse. What’s more, the fairs will also introduce the "Scan2Match" which enables offline-to-online connections.
