Promotes Indian-Swiss relations
Following its inauguration in 2010, the Swiss Ambassador’s Award for Exceptional Leadership was recently presented for the second time. The prize is awarded to individuals in recognition of their work in the interests of social and industrial development and of strengthening ties between India and Switzerland.
Ratan Tata is an outstanding example of such an individual. For this reason, the Indian top executive received this year’s Swiss Ambassador’s Award for Exceptional Leadership in New Delhi. The Swiss ambassador to India, Philippe Welti, presented the prize.
In his commendation of the award-winner,Welti stressed the extent to which Ratan Tata’s commitment to industry and the economy not only helped to cement Swiss-Indian relations but also promoted global business, particularly since the Tata Group has now successfully extended its operations to Switzerland.
Exemplary commitment
Apart from his achievements in business, on the strength of which American Fortune magazine named him one of the world’s 25 most influential entrepreneurs, Philippe Welti also pointed out his exemplary commitment to social issues in India and his ethical principles. The ambassador praised Ratan Tata for his convictions and for the fact that he had made it to the top with a real sense of social responsibility, which he also called for from other senior executives. In his acceptance speech, Ratan Tata spoke of his respect for Switzerland, a country that maintains the highest level of democracy worldwide and whose citizens have established a reputation for extraordinary efficiency and precision.
Charismatic timepiece as acknowledgement
In recognition of his outstanding work and commitment, David Vallata, Executive Vice President Sales at Carl F. Bucherer, presented Ratan Tata with a Patravi EvoTec DayDate wristwatch. The central Swiss watchmanufacturer has created this unusual and charismatic timepiece, which features a movement made entirely in the company’s own workshops, for personalities of a very special caliber: personalities like Ratan Tata.
