Our growth has been upto expectations. Comparing to last year would be an unfair one! Sales at the point of sale have been better. Retailers are having problems with bankers and financers, who have cut credit lines.

We have also realised that the franchise boutique, which sell the full range, are doing better than the others. The Asian markets have maintained their growth trajectory. The US is going through some churn. However, there are positive and optimistic signs. The trade is hopeful of a better festival season.

What are your favourite products?
This year, my favourite is the Ceramica chronograph. My second favourite is the Jasper Morrison chronograph 5.5.

Tell us about how the Swiss-made label can be preserved and maintained?
Swiss-made is a bigger brand than all other individual ones. It’s very important to preserve its sanctity from the consumer’s point of view. The consumer wants quality and we should deliver it to win his trust. Swiss-made is not a guarantee but gives the consumer more security and confidence. And those who compromise will bite the dust. But they shouldn’t be allowed to damage the brand equity.
