MOVADO
THE ART OF DESIGN
The art of Movado is the art of design. Since its founding in 1881 by 19-year old entrepreneur Achille Ditesheim in the village of La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Movado has achieved a legacy of design innovation, earning more than 100 patents and 200 international awards for artistry and innovation in watch design and time technology.
Movado, meaning “always in motion” in the international language of Esperanto, is the hallmark of some of the most famous timepieces ever created: the 1912 Polyplan, its revolutionary, patented movement constructed on three planes to fit a case curved to follow the wrist…the WWI Soldier’s Watch with its elegant, protective grill…the 1927 Ermeto, a capsule-shaped pocket watch wound by the sliding motion of its case…the innovative 1950’s Kingmatic series of rotor-driven automatics…the Movado Artist’s Series by luminaries of the fine art world…and the Movado Museum® Watch with its legendary dial.
Defined by a single dot at 12 representing the sun at high noon, the Museum Watch dial is regarded as an icon of Modernism. It was designed by Bauhaus-influenced artist Nathan George Horwitt in 1947. When Horwitt’s dial was selected for the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, in 1960, it was the first watch dial ever awarded this distinction. The name “Museum Watch” derives from this recognition. Today, Movado watches are in prominent museums worldwide, and this legendary dial distinguishes an entire collection of singular timepieces.
Excellence in design. A dedication to Swiss craftsmanship. The quest for technological innovation. The Movado philosophy remains as valid as it was in 1881. Swiss made and water resistant, all Movado watches are distinguished by a legacy of design innovation and dedication to the future of time. MOVADO SAPPHIRE SYNERGY
Movado pushes design minimalism to a new pinnacle in its futuristic Sapphire™ collection with the introduction of the explosive new Sapphire Synergy™. A timepiece of substance, drama and streamlined sophistication, Sapphire Synergy showcases the powerful character and modern relevance of the iconic Museum® dial. There is no bezel on this bold watch design. Instead, Synergy’s flat sapphire crystal flows to the very edge of the case, creating a fluid, unbroken surface. Crafted of solid stainless steel, the simple round case features a custom-engraved back. Sleek case extensions angle back, following the curve of the wrist for comfort, and attaching the smooth, supple rubber deployment strap. The Museum dial is detailed by a silvertone concave dot and dauphine hands. Sapphire Synergy is available in both a 42mm men’s size and 34mm women’s size with classic black dial, bold black PVD-finished case profile and black strap. The 34mm women’s size is also offered with an elegant white dial, polished steel case profile and pure white rubber strap.
MOVADO SERIES 800 DATRON™ CHRONOGRAPH
Movado proudly unveils the sleekly muscular Series 800 Datron™ Chronograph, a contemporary sport watch inspired by the classic 1970 Movado Datron self-winding chronograph. This signal 40mm automatic timepiece for men is the first entry in the brand’s new Collectors’ Edition series. Being produced in limited quantities, Series 800 Datron is crafted of solid Performance Steel™ and powered by a fine 37-jewel ETA self-winding movement with 42 hours of reserve power. Like its prestigious namesake, it is distinguished by an arresting tonneau-shaped case with two chronograph pushers, and a striking two-tone dial with contrasting chronograph counters and small seconds subdial. Richly detailed by applied hour markers and printed minute index, and signed with the name Datron, the updated dial is available in a sophisticated color palette rendered two ways: black with silver soleil eyes, or silver soleil with black eyes. The square date window that characterized the original Datron has become a modern round aperture, in homage to the iconic Museum dot. Exuding a casual elegance that bridges day to night, the Series 800 Datron chronograph features a bold brushed/polished link bracelet with butterfly deployment clasp. Protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, the Series 800 Datron Chronograph is water resistant to 5ATM.
SE EXTREME
A brand icon, the sportive, elegant SE® is one of Movado’s most popular and enduring watch collections. Now Movado pushes SE to new heights of design distinction with the powerful SE Extreme™. Marked by bolder, sharply cut bevels, the robust, oversized case with signal crown protector and custom case-back engraving features a striking sandwich construction, alternating layers of brushed and polished solid stainless steel. Four flat polished dots add signature SE character to the simple brushed bezel while complimenting the flat dot of the original Horwitt Museum® dial. A push-button butterfly deployment buckle secures the substantial newly designed sport link bracelet to the wrist. Powered by a fine Swiss automatic movement, the 44mm men’s model features a sapphire crystal exhibition case-back, and silver soleil or black dial with subtle red lettering. The quartz-precise 34mm women’s model is available with a black dial and brushed bezel, or a bezel brilliant with two rows of diamonds encircling a white mother-of-pearl or black dial.
MOVADO MASTER
Meticulously engineered. Masterfully refined. Movado is proud to premiere a heroic new pinnacle collection for men and women: Movado Master™. With its dynamic design boldly rooted in the strong industrial and architectural expressions of the Bauhaus movement, the muscular Movado Master™ propels the powerful purity of the iconic Museum dial in a daring new direction. Machined in solid stainless steel, the angular tonneau-shaped case with screw-down crown features a gear-edge black sapphire or double-row diamond-set bezel, and raised door-style hinges. Functioning as attachments for Movado Master’s rubber deployment strap, the flexing hinges provide striking architectural definition as well as wrist-conforming comfort. Movado Master’s striking asymmetric matte black or white dial with custom-designed luminescent hands, explores and expands the circle-within-a-circle motif of the iconic Museum dial, adding new dimension and texture. The dot at 12 o’clock, with a new convex center, resembles a push-button. A new off-center inner circle is textured with a dot-grid pattern, mimicking the texture of the black strap, or pavé set with diamonds. Around it, new luminescent or diamond-set indices, graduated in length, delineate the hours. The 44mm men’s model, with fine Swiss automatic movement, custom-designed black “M” rotor, and exhibition case-back, is water resistant to 30 ATM. Offering several diamond-set case and dial options, the 34mm women’s model is quartz-precise and water resistant to 30 ATM unset, or to 5 ATM when set with diamonds.
