Has the global slowdown affected you?
The global environment is such that the only way in which we can tackle it is by confronting it. It depends on the areas where we are present — in Europe, we are doing fine. In India, we are increasing our sell-out even though Balmain is a young brand. In China we started in December but we are on the right path. Other markets are quite challenging but it’s an opportunity. Balmain offers value for money.
The trend is to have the highest amount of Swiss components. The customer is expecting impeccable quality from any Swiss-made product. At Baselworld 2009, the mood is quite upbeat even though there are quality buyers. We are quite optimistic. In India, we want to work on the brand awareness and sell the unique selling propositions. We shall strengthen distribution.
Which watches do you recommend?
My personal favourite is the new Swiss model, Chrono Retrograde Invitation. It fits snugly on to the wrist. It has the same style but a different attractive dial — black with red. For the ladies, I recommend Velvet Lady.
