When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Last year, the premiere World Watch and Jewellery Show, Baselworld proved it and this year, it is getting bigger and better as the economy improves and as sentiments soar. Baselworld opens its doors in Switzerland in March for its 38th year by establishing itself as the competence centre for the sector and enhancing its own reputation for drawing a who’s who list of international luxury watch and jewelry brands. All efforts are being made to reinforce BaselWorld’s role as a leading show that “provides stimulus for the luxury goods sector,” and to ensure that buyers and exhibitors are making a trip to Basel a top priority.
This year, the show’s Web site, BaselWorld.com, has been revamped to offer what organizers call “a comprehensive news platform for the watch and jewelry sector, aimed at both specialist dealers and final consumers.” The site will include new products from the brands exhibiting at the show, which spans 160,000 square meters. And in this issue, we present an alluring preview of Baselworld 2010 watches that will enthrall and excite.
Size does matter and so does style! Tissot, with its signature ‘Innovators by Tradition’, has been pioneering craftsmanship and innovation since its foundation in 1853. The Tissot innovation leadership is enabled by the development of high-tech products, special materials and advanced functionality.
For over 144 years, Zenith has been all about precision and reliability. It has unveiled its collection that celebrates Spring!! Watches that portray the sign of hope and prosperity away from the glumness of autumn and winter!
It is not often that an Indian artist gets to be ‘associated’ with an international luxury watch brand. Well, the legendary Harry Winston has chosen to felicitate the ‘princess of Indian glass art’, Hemi Bawa. The Jewellers to the Stars Harry Winston launched artist Hemi Bawa’s Biography.
Embodying values such as Tradition, Daring and Excellence, Audemars Piguet is sponsoring the most prestigious racing event in Dubai.
OUR VISION also brings the Premiere World Watch Report 2010! BRIC Markets (including Brazil, Russia, India and China) already account for more than 12% of the global demand for luxury watches even as the global demand for the 10 “Haute Horlogerie” brands increased by 14% over one year. These are the findings of The Premiere WorldWatchReport 2010, which was launched on the opening day of the SIHH in Geneva. Also, 14% of the searches for luxury watches happen from India, the report says. In India, there is a lot of interest in brands such as Omega, Rolex, Tag Heuer, Cartier, Rado, Longines, Breitling, Bvlgari and Chopard.
